Product Description

Manufacturer's Notes: On January 16, 1919 the United States of America voted itself dry. The state of Nebraska became the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment, with a three-fourth majority vote, making Prohibition an effective law one year from this date.

Rum-running, the organized smuggling of importing rum and other liquor by sea and over land to the Unite States, became a highly profitable business once Prohibition took effect in 1920.

Rum has been produced in Barbados for over 350 years. During these centuries, Rum has become a fundamental part of the identity of the island. The Rum in this bottle is a blend of pot and column still Rums, aged in oak casks up to 8 years. The Rum has subtle notes of Vanilla, Coconut, Toffee and Toasted Marshmallows followed by a long and found finish.

One of the most famous periods of rum-running started in the United States when Prohibition began on January 16, 1920, when the Eighteenth Amendment went into effect. Noble rum-runners were seen at night running into remote areas with flat-bottom skiffs for running up on the beach, making their deliveries, and quickly speeding away.

People still wanting to satisfy their thirst at home and in America's illegal speakeasies rejected dangerous locally made alcohol and demanded only the good stuff "right off the boat", imported illegally by rum-runners straight from the Caribbean.
