The wine and the yeast lees inside each barrel of our Chardonnay is hand stirred once a week during several months of the aging process. This labor intensive winemaking process of inserting a "baton" and hand stirring every barrel is known as "batonnage". This creates a unique richness and creaminess that has become the signature of the Columbia Crest Grand Estates Chardonnay and a benchmark for the Washington Quality.
