Prior to 1870, bourbon was sold by the barrel, having unpredictable and varying quality. George Garvin Brown revolutionized the industry by batching bourbon from three different distilleries and putting it in a sealed bottle to create a consistent product. To emulate Brown's pioneering spirit, Old Forester 1870 Original Batch bourbon uses barrels from three different warehouse with different production dates, entry proofs and maturation periods. This expression is crafted in small batches each gently filtered in a process similar to Brown's.
